A new window gazer for the railway line between Aberystwyth, Machynlleth and Pwllheli has been launched at the high profile Transport Applications Wales Conference held in Aberystwyth on Thursday, 20 November.

The Cambrian Coast Gazer which points out things of interest to passengers as they travel along the line has been warmly welcomed by the Deputy First Minister, Minster for the Economy and Transport Ieuan Wyn Jones AM. Speaking at the Conference Mr Jones said, "I very much welcome initiatives such as this which not only promote local public transport services but also the attraction of Rural Wales as a whole. The new Cambrian Coast line's new Gazer will contribute to a greater understanding and appreciation of our country's outstanding coastal and mountain scenery".

"This new initiative is another example of how the Cambrian Railways Partnership are delivering projects that support the wider economy in an area where tourism is an important industry".

The research and design of the Coast Gazer was undertaken by local company Timeline and is beautifully illustrated by Borth artist Gabrielle Adamson. Gerwyn Jones for the Cambrian Railways Partnership (CRP) commented "I have been born and bred in the area and my day job is promoting the railway line - this said there is a lot of interesting information in the Gazer that I was unaware of. I'm sure that many local people will enjoy it as well as visitors as it really enhances what is already regarded as one of the most scenic railway journeys anywhere in the UK".

Launching publications such as the Gazer outside the main traditional holiday season is a key part of the CRP's strategy to promote the rail services and support local businesses along the lines throughout the year.

The Coast Gazer will be available for free from manned railway stations, at Tourist Information Centres and other outlets along the Cambrian network.
