Attractive new signs proclaiming Machynlleth as the 'Gateway to the Cambrian Coast Line and Snowdonia National Park' have been erected at the town's railway station.

John Ablitt Snowdonia National Park's Communication Director said, "Working closely with the railway is important in developing and supporting the Park's credentials as a ‘green' and sustainable tourism destination especially at a time when there are growing concerns about and awareness of climate change.

"By promoting public transport we are able to show people that there are good opportunities to reach the Park and travel within it by means other than the car."

On behalf of the Cambrian Railways Partnership Gerwyn Jones commented "We are aware that the Cambrian Coast and Snowdonia National Park are well known and regarded brand names that mean something and resonate with people.

"Initiatives like this are mutually beneficial in linking the railway to the area – what better way to enjoy the glorious views of the Park than through a train window."
