The Welsh Assembly Government (WAG)'s Rail Team is working with Network Rail to prepare a joint bid for funding from the Department for Transport' (DfT)'s 'Access for All' match funding mechanism into a feasibility study on the platform stepping distance at Aberdovey railway station.
Gerwyn Jones, the Rail Development Officer for the Cambrian Lines, stated: "To help generate support for this bid the WAG are very keen to hear the views of individuals as well as those representing disability / accessibility interest groups as it is felt these would be very well received by the DfT and would assist them in their decision making process."
Gerwyn continued, "The excessive stepping distance to board and alight the trains at Aberdovey has been a long standing issue that has and continues to affect, especially the less mobile's, ability to make use of this station and access the trains. Any proposed scheme to improve this situation would be very much welcomed."

Gerwyn Jones, on behalf of the Cambrian Railways Partnership, stated: "An hourly train service between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury is a long standing aspiration for many in Mid Wales – this is an opportunity for people to relay their views and support on this matter to the Welsh Assembly Government in the hope of realising this aspiration."
