Wales on Rails

We've produced a series of leaflets designed to give you some ideas and inspiration on how to spend some good times by train on the Cambrian Lines. These are called our 'Wales on Rails' series.

In them you'll get ideas on some great short breaks by train in some of the UK's most fantastic locations - scenery so good that not even the best cameras in the world can capture the splendour!

So, take a look, have a read, and maybe you can come up with the perfect day out or short break by train.

The first in the series - 'Wales on Rails - Set your family free' is a neat little guide about what you and your family can do for a quick, easy, low budget short break in Mid Wales by train. It features short breaks near the Aberystwyth and Machynlleth end of the line with an emphasis on low cost, high fun, great memories for you and the kids.

It's here to give you some inspiration. So go on - set your family free and hop on board.

The second one - 'Wales on Rails 2 - The Romance of Rail' is another great little guide about what you and your partner can do for a short break in the beautiful and picturesque Llyn Peninsula, west of Porthmadog along the final part of the stunning Cambrian Coast railway Line.

A perfect few days stolen away in romantic surroundings with great ideas for a memorable time for you and yours.

It's not a set itinerary by any means (it wouldn't be romantic to have to stick to a schedule every minute of the day!), but rather it's a guide on what to do to spend some quality time with your loved one!

Our third offering - 'Wales on Rails 3 - Travel back in time!' is all about days gone by and includes ideas for a short 3 day breakto explore past times on three fantastic lines using Shrewsbury town (easy to reach by train from across the UK) as a picturesque and bustling base.

We suggest three fantastic day trips by train. We'll tell you about great days out at Welshpool on the Cambrian Line, Llandrindod on the Heart of Wales line, and the Llangollen canal on the Shrewsbury-Chester line for you to explore at your leisure - with the chance to get back to Shrewsbury in time for a night at the theatre, restaurants, clubs and bars.

Download the brochures by clicking on the covers above, or look for them at TIC's and railway stations in the Cambrian area.
