Taking the Cambrian to Grand Central! We join other Community Rail Partnerships as part of nationwide event!

We literally took the train to the end of the line laden with promotional stands and leaflets and all sorts of information last week as we participated in the ACoRP (Association for Community Rail Partnership) 'Community Rail in the City' nationwide event.

Melanie Lawton (Conwy), Sheila Dee (Shrewsbury-Chester), David Edwards and Gill Wright (Heart of Wales), and Rhydian Mason (Cambrian) at Birmingham New Street Station.Joining us at Grand Central Birmingham New Street Station were colleagues from the Heart of Wales line, the Conwy Valley line, the Shrewsbury-Chester line and the Vale of Rheidol Railway line where we represented 'team Wales' at this busy UK station.

Rhydian Mason, Rail Development Officer for the Cambrian Railways Partnership said that the day had been a very busy one, with lots of interest shown by a wide range of people throughout the day looking for short breaks and day trips by train to Wales.

"We're better connected than ever now to the West Midlands and indeed the rest of the UK. We've better trains, more frequent services, and we're only a couple of hours away by a direct train service from Birmingham.

"Working together as a group of Community Rail Partnerships like this enabled us to put together a great display and gave us the opportunity to engage with hundreds of people - including a couple from New Zealand who had just landed in the UK on holiday and were looking for ideas on where to visit. We trust they had a warm Welsh welcome!"
